Want to know if an egg is fresh? All it takes is a bowl of water. Place the egg on the bowl - if it lays on its side at the bottom, it's fresh. But if it stands upright at the bottom, you could still eat it but make sure to eat it right away. If an egg floats on water, it's past its prime and you should throw it away.
