St. Patrick's Day Food: Mint Chocolate Chip Cookies For Your 2016 Party

St. Patrick's Day is just around the corner and you can only expect more green colored food to come your way as weekend nears!

TIME made a list of some US fast food chains that are celebrating St. Patrick's Day by turning some of the food on their menu green to celebrate the feast day of Ireland's patron saint.

San Diego McDonalds is offering a minty shake called "Shamrock Shake." While Burger King has their own mint-flavored treat called "OREO Irish Mint Shake," which they are marketing with Jalapeño Chicken Fries.

Not to be upstaged, Dairy Queen is also offering a chocolate and mint concoction "Grasshopper Mousse Pie" in cake or blizzard.

With mint and greenbeing the craze these days, why not take a hint from giant fast food chains and make your very own mint-flavored treat for your St. Patty's celebration?

Babble published a great recipe for Mint Chocolate Chip Cookies - the perfect food to serve your guests on your St. Patrick's Day celebration! The recipe calls for Andes Creme de Menthe Baking Chips to lend its mint flavor to the cookies. While the mild emerald hue comes from  few drops of food color.

Tip: Baking the cookies in a silicone baking mat will help get them off the baking sheets easier despite the melted chocolate chips.
