MasterChef Season 8-Inspired Snack: Cannoli, Easy Recipe Versions

MasterChef season 8 contestants recently had their first ever baking task as they tried their best in a Cannoli baking elimination challenge.

For foodies who want to channel their inner chef, there are numerous easy recipe versions that can help you try your hand at making the well-loved Italian treat.

Key Lime Pie Cannoli (Hungry Happenings)

This Key Lime Pie Cannoli from Hungry Happenings might just be the easiest cannoli recipe there is. With only 5 ingredients, this is a quick recipe that uses instant pie crust, key lime pie filling, and whipped topping. You can easily modify this recipe by swapping the key lime pie filling for any other pie filling that tickles your palate.

"Cannoli shaped pie crust filled with Key lime pie filing combined with whipped topping."

  • 1 box Pillsbury Pie Crust (2 dough rounds)
  • 1 egg
  • 1 teaspoon water
  • 1 cup key lime pie filling or curd
  • 1 cup frozen whipped topping, thawed
  • powdered sugar for dusting

Cannoli Cups (Give Me Some Oven)

You don't have to have a cannoli mold to be able to make some at home. This Cannoli Cups Give Me Some Oven uses pastry cups instead of cylinders to hold that delectable cannoli filling. Using wonton wrappers, you won't need to make and kneed your own pastry dough to make this recipe.

"Your favorite Italian dessert made simple and served inside adorable little wonton “cups”. You’ll love this cannoli cups recipe!"

Mom's Cream Horn Recipe (Natasha's Kitchen)

This recipe may not technically be called a cannoli, but we threw it in anyway because it basically has the same flavor profile and can easily satisfy your cannoli cravings. This Mom's Cream Horn Recipe from Natasha's Kitchen uses puff pastry and an easy cream filling made from cream cheese, cool whip, lemon juice and sugar.

"Cream Horn Molds required for the recipe. Puff pastry cream horns can be made even 3 days ahead; covered and stored in a cool, dry place."
