Nat'l Barbecue Month: Delicious BBQ Recipes to Make This Weekend

Barbecuing is one of the oldest forms of cooking. Dating back to the Stone Age, open-fire cooking is not very different from the Sunday backyard barbecues we have at home today. Save for the sophisticated barbecue grills and gadgets, there's something about the delicious, rustic smoky flavor of grilled meat that hasn't changed over the millennia.

If you're not in the mood to fire up your outdoor grill, there are lots of yummy barbecue recipes you can make right in your oven.


Oven Baked Ribs with Chipotle BBQ Sauce (Recipe Tin Eats)

This Oven Baked Ribs with Chipotle BBQ Sauce from Recipe Tin Eats is a great barbecue recipe that you can make even without using your outdoor grill. This oven-baked barbecue recipe is made yummy by the rich and flavorful rub made of cayenne, paprika, garlic powder, onion powder, thyme and oregano.

  • 1 bottle dark beer (About 12 oz / 375 ml. Stout, porter or a dark ale)

Chipotle BBQ Sauce ("Sauce")

  • 14 oz / 400g can crushed tomato
  • 3.5 oz / 100g can Chipotle in Adobo Sauce , chipotle and sauce (1/2 a standard can) (Note 1)
  • 1 large onion (brown, white or yellow), diced
  • 2 garlic cloves , minced
  • 1 tbsp tomato paste
  • 2 tbsp brown sugar
  • 1/4 cup white wine vinegar (or 2 tbsp normal white vinegar + 1 tsp sugar)
  • 1/3 cup Worcestershire sauce
  • 2 tbsp Tabasco sauce , or other hot sauce. Adjust to taste.
  • 1/2 tbsp salt
  • Black pepper

Ludy's Kitchen Cooking Tip: 

Need to reheat leftover barbecue chicken? Keep the skin crispy by brushing it with a little olive oil before wrapping in foil and popping in the oven. This will help retain the crisp of chicken skin without drying out the meat. 

Make cooking a lot easier and more enjoyable by using good quality silicone baking mats. Not only are silicone mats sturdy and durable. Because they're non-stick, you can also cut your clean-up time in half.
